Her own journey of preparing for ministry in Scotland has deepened her compassion for those carrying heavy burdens and for believers stepping into difficult callings. Candice approaches every project with humility and a desire to reflect Christ’s love, helping create a foundation that strengthens ministries, supports families, and encourages those who are faithfully spreading the Gospel.

Joanne Perez serves as Vice President of the Thistles and Thorns Foundation with a sincere desire to encourage, support, and uplift those who are following God’s call. She holds double bachelor's degrees in Apologetics and Biblical Studies and is an active member of Calvary Chapel of Fayetteville, NC, where she serves in the Women’s Ministry and Mentorship program. Joanne brings a gentle strength rooted in compassion and honesty, shaped by her own walk with the Lord and her dedication to discipleship. Her leadership helps guide the foundation with clarity and grace, keeping the focus on serving others, strengthening ministries, and sharing the hope of the Gospel.

Calen Bullard serves the Thistles and Thorns Foundation with a steady commitment to integrity, service, and Gospel-centered purpose. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and spent 21 years in the U.S. Army Civil Affairs, working alongside communities around the world to bring stability, essential services, and hope where it was needed most. As he prepares for the next chapter of ministry, his own experiences of challenge and growth have given him a deep compassion for those serving in difficult places. Calen supports the foundation through communication and organizational guidance, driven by a desire to lift up others, honor their sacrifices, and embody the love of Christ in all he does.
